"The Sleep" Choreographer: Beliz Demircioglu Creative Dancer: Pınar Özer

ABOUT

Pınar Özer, born in Istanbul in 1989, pursued her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) education and subsequent teaching training under the mentorship of Yıldız Alpar Ballet School, Turkey's first private ballet school. She earned her Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies in 2017, officially becoming a certified RAD teacher. As of 2024, she is a certified instructor for the contemporary dance program Rambert Grades. She completed the Part-Time Ballet Program at Istanbul State Conservatory.

After graduating from TED Istanbul College, she obtained an Associate Degree in Sociology from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (2009) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts at Bilgi University with a full scholarship (2013). Through the Erasmus program, she studied contemporary dance, performance art, dance theories, and choreography at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK, HZT) in 2011. 

Pınar completed her Master’s Degree in Corporate Communication at Anadolu University (2022) and is currently pursuing a fully-funded Master’s Degree in Cultural and Arts Management at Yaşar University. She writes articles on dance pedagogy and the rights of dance artists and conducts interviews with choreographers. 

She has participated in numerous workshops on dance and somatic movement practices, including the ImPulsTanz Festival, and has collaborated with important choreographers. She has been part of the creative and performing team in stage performances, site-specific projects, art residencies, and dance films. Pınar has also volunteered as an instructor in art workshop projects across Turkey, Hungary, France, and Germany. She has taught ballet and dance to hundreds of students of various ages and levels in numerous institutions.
